Burgers on a Monday? You betcha!

When we saw that the Copper Cow in Minnetonka was serving deep-fried burgers, it was like a state fair summer dream!

So, you guessed it, we went!

Here's what we tried:

deep-fried burger

Order: Deep Fried Burger: local beef patty, brie, arugula, icebox pickles, house-made milk & honey bun completely battered & fried. Served with CHIPS & DIP: fresh-made potato chips, caramelized onion dip.

Why did you order what you did? 

This burger has been getting some social media buzz and I had to try it. It was like experiencing the MN State Fair in the dead of winter.

On a 5-star rating system, please rate the items:

Presentation – 5 stars! The burger was massive and really made a statement. Plus, the food was plated really well. 

Taste – 4.5 stars. Oddly enough, I loved the deep fried element of this. The batter was light and crispy, the brie cheese and beef were the best parts. If I could change anything, it may have been the bun. It was a lot of breading once deep fried, but I guess something has to hold it all together. 

Texture – 5 stars. As mentioned earlier the light and crispy deep fried shell was awesome and the soft beef, oozy cheese in the middle was a wonderful compliment. But a fun aspect was the homemade potato chips. So fresh and crispy, served with a caramelized onion dip that was really an unexpected touch.

Any additional comments or takeaways about the food or atmosphere? The restaurant is in a great location for west metro folks, yet I was surprised how small and quaint it was. This was unexpected, but I really liked it. The decoration and seating featured a masculine, yet urban vibe and obviously our Beef Council staff loved the hide and leather combination seating with cow imagery on the walls. I would definitely come back again!

Why did you order what you did? I thought it sounded really interesting and a great mix of flavor profiles.

Order: Sweet Milkmaid Burger

Why did you order what you did? I thought this burger sounded interesting with a combination of unique flavors. A kind of burger I would never make at home.

Any additional comments or takeaways about the food or atmosphere? I really enjoyed this burger and the homemade chips and dip were a delightful surprise. I am not a French fry person, so was very excited to try the chips and dip. The burger was very flavorful, with a bit of sweetness.

Order: Whole Grain Salad with NY Strip Steak

Why did you order what you did? I was going for something a little lighter, and wanted to try some of their steak to see how they prepared it!

Any additional comments or takeaways about the food or atmosphere? The presentation was very pretty with the fresh shaven parmesan, and the steak tasted good. I liked the lemon vinaigrette, which was a light and sweet surprise. I absolutely loved the leather and cowhide seats, and openness of the small and cozy restaurant.

It was a fun outing for us all, as proven by our vlog!
