I grew up on a small seedstock operation near Gibbon, MN and am thankful for my wonderful parents, my three siblings, and my fiancé who support me in all I do. My roots in agriculture date back to when I was 5 years old and my parents bought my siblings and I a couple steers to show in 4-H. We enjoyed it so much that we later decided to show pigs as well. In 4-H, I developed speaking skills, a work ethic, and got out of my comfort zone as a young member. Shortly thereafter, I found myself showing Simmental cattle as part of the American Simmental Association. It was through these two organizations where my passion for agriculture sprouted and I am thankful to be a part of this industry, even in a small way.
Although 4-H and the Simmental association were key players in my interest in the agriculture industry and even my choice in career path, the credit must go the FFA Organization for further developing my skills and helping me learn about new opportunities that could lie ahead. In FFA, I competed in Career and Leadership Development Events, and held offices at the chapter and region level. My greatest opportunity in the organization was serving as the 2021-2022 Minnesota State FFA Sentinel. In this role, I was able to refine my communication skills, deepen my knowledge of agriculture, and further build on my experience working with dynamic teams.
Currently, I am about to enter my senior year at the University of Minnesota where I am studying Agricultural Communication and Marketing with a minor in Animal Science. On campus, I am a part of the Beta of Clovia sorority, Block and Bridle Club, Gopher Dairy Club, and the Agricultural Education and Communication & Marketing Club. When I am not involved in school, some other things I enjoy doing include spending time with family, going to cattle shows and fairs in the summer, fishing and swimming at the lake, and helping my fiancé on his family’s crop and livestock operation.
I am excited to be a part of the Minnesota Beef team and look forward to learning more about policy in agriculture through the Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association, communicating the cattle farmers’ message, and helping consumers see why supporting farmers is important.
