"If you take care of the land, it'll take care of you."
The original farm was bought by the Miller family in 1866 and has grown and been maintained by eight generations of Millers. We have been a totally registered Angus Herd since 1903. We have a 240 cow Angus seedstock operation, selling bulls and females by private treaty on the farm. We have multi-generation buyers that have trusted our seedstock to improve and enhance their herds.
Our farm lies on the Minnesota-Iowa border with land in both states. We have a totally closed herd of Angus cattle along with also raising hogs and sheep. We have 400 acres of permanent pasture with one pasture last worked in 1923. Our pasture land could be cropped but our grass is a very valuable asset to raising our cattle.
The land is very important to us because if you don't care for the land, it won't care for you. All our cattle, being registered, have all the Angus Association criteria of birth weights and yearly weights. They are tattooed at birth and registered after birth. We have performance data on all of our cattle. This helps us make the important decisions on what works best for us and our customers.
"Getting to work side by side with your children and grandchildren on a daily basis is the greatest gift of God."
Grilled steaks and hamburgers are hard to beat. We also like traditional roasts and there is nothing better than mouth-watering Swiss steak.
It is one of the most enjoyable aspects of this farm because it has been in the family since 1866 and for eight generations. The land and livestock have taken care of all past generations and hopefully it will continue on for many more.
Stop in - we always welcome visitors! We also have a farm website and are on Facebook.
Cattle are born and raised for their genetic potential and usually marketed to other cow/calf producers at 1-2 years of age.
