Dive into the Dollar

I'm super excited to be starting my blog for the summer where I take a Dive into the Dollar. Throughout the summer, I want to take a deeper look into what the Beef Checkoff is, how it funds the Beef Council and what impact it has on Minnesota Beef.

I'm going to accomplish this by learning about how the beef checkoff started, talking to the experts and attending various events. I want to look at the state level, here at the Minnesota Beef Council, and at the national, with the Cattlemen's Beef Board.

To start off, let's look at the definition of the checkoff from the Cattlemen's Beef Board, "The Beef Checkoff program is a producer-funded marketing and research program designed to increase domestic and/or international demand for beef."
